An interesting account of the route, & surrounding area, the Voyageurs most often used. Covers the fur trade companies, famous traders, complete with old maps, drawings & even some photgraphs.
It even goes on to talk about some of the more modern uses of that area. The Finns & their saunas, the logging days, & mining. The Indians who inhabited the border country are also discussed in some detail.
I found it fascinating to see some of the sketches & old photographs (likely from the 1930s?) of areas I've been to in my travels. Comparing what it looked like then to what it looked like when I passed through.
