Been strongly considering taking a break from my usual deer hunting endeavors and giving the pagami creek burn area a shot next year! Ive been scouting alot of the fringe areas of the burn, as well as areas that im not likely to see other hunters! Ive found some areas that id like to try but i have a few ?'s though! Was the fire a really severe fire where it burnt every acre that it encompassed, or was it more of a scattered fire with pockets of burnt/unburnt areas? Did it totally torch the topsoil, or is the chance of new growth a good probability? Also, are climbing treestands legal if they are taken in/out each day and theres no cutting of live growth?
from what Ive heard from talking to people both whom live up there and forest service people is that there is plenty of places that did not burn. scattered patches of trees that were spared. i think it is going to be a gold mine for hunting for the next 5 years with all the new growth!! As for climbing stand they are legal. I personally used the tree saddle and it worked great, and easy to carry. my father and brother both bring chain on tree stands heavier but it all worked.
Thanks a bunch, i think itll be great hunting as well! I have a friend that does prescribed burns out west, and the animals are in them sometimes before they are even finished with the burning! As far as treestand type, i believe as long as screw in tree steps arent used anything is legal!
