Any other turkey hunters out there? I was selected for for the spring hunt. Everyone else get theirs?

I'll be north of Wadena, I believe the D season. This is my first actual time turkey hunting. My dad used to in SE MN about 15 - 25 years ago and hasn't since the mid-90s. He didn't get drawn either.
I've got my blinds, calls and everything else ready to go.
We have a lot of birds in our area, hopefully I am successful.
Since I am a rookie, might you have any tips for me?

The most enjoyable part is getting out in the woods in the springtime with various wildlife getting active in the spring. I don't think turkeys are real smart, but they got vision like you can't believe. They are very wary and know their surroundings. One wrong movement and they will see you. I also think half the fun is getting to sound like a turkey and act like a turkey.

In the blind in the AM. Will post again if successful this weekend.
Good luck to you if you take an over the counter tag.

Any luck?
I went turkey hunting last year for the first time. I heard them but couldn't get them to come close.
I did enjoy it enough to get some of my own gear. It's a bit like deer hunting but the day is MUCH longer! (time change) I didn't even apply for the sprig draw knowing I wouldn't have time to get out. I wish I would have because I've been watching six turkey's strutting around about 200 yards from the house for the past two weeks! I guess they know I can't shoot them or they wouldn't be there.
fit- are you up by New York Mills? That's where I hunt deer.

Kendra, yes I have land about five miles north of Wadena. Do most of my hunting there. We have a pretty good population of turkeys.
The last three or four turkey seasons are over the counter - no drawing.
