Well, the "plan" is to work out at home - We have a stationary bike, tread mill and free weights. Sometimes I have more commitment to exercise than others.

March 1 - I hope to increase my exercise routine to be ready for May trips!

I use weights, tredmill, stair stepper and exersize dvd's at home. Works great for me. Hubby uses a club.

I started exersizing 13 year ago, lost about 40 pounds and have never gone back. Must keep in shape for the BWCA

Just starting my program at home by walking/running and visiting my sister as my "personal trainer". She has all the equipment and seems to enjoy torturing me as often as I let her :-)

I have a gym membership that I mostly use for the treadmill. Especially now during the winter I don't do much outdoor running. At home, I am currently going through my 2nd round of Insanity. I do plan to do more strength training later on in the spring so my trips to the gym will increase.

my husband did insanity, but it hurt his knees so much. So now he is doing p90x along with his club time

Both. At the Y I do rowing twice a week for an hour, swim one mile four times a week. I ride my road bike four times a week for 60 to 90 minutes on my one-up trainer (highly recommend it). I absolutely abhor weightlifting, so about three times a week I do 20 to 30 minutes of various upper body exercises with my wife's reebok resistance band, $15 bucks or so at Target and, again, surprisingly effective. I got out on the road February 4. Hoping that if we stay clear of snow and ice that I can get out two or three times a week soon. Since mid November I've dropped from 180 to 171. I'm on target to hit 165 for the beginning of my five week trip that starts May 21 (first three solo in BWCA, then two weeks in Quetico with my tripping partner).

It's a combo. All weight training is done at a gym. It's more of a free weight style gym so I have plenty of options. I also do standard walking and soon will start walking the stairs at a local dam.

I was buying stuff to workout at home but I discovered I have to go to the gym or I keep delaying using the stuff at home and before you know it, it is too late.

I kind of let things get away the last couple of months. I just started up my workouts for a June trip. I hate the gym but will do a little strength tune up about a month before the trip. I also use the pool a lot for lap swim. I ride bike, walk, inline skate and am active At yard work or any physical activity I enjoy. Oh yea... I paddle to or three times a week once the lake opens up. Having a varied routine helps me stay at it.

I’ve been a gym rat for years but just recently started a new workout based on the book “Convict Comditioning.” Supposedly, it’s written buy an ex con who spent many years in prison. It’s based on body weight exercises. I was a cop for 26 years and some of the most powerful guys I met came out of the prison system. This has been a totally new way of working out for me and it does kick your ass. You can do it mostly at home. Theonly thing you might need is a pull up bar. Gotta do what he suggests in the book and not jump ahead of the workouts. It’s progressive. Supplement the workout on off days with some kind of cardio, HITT Training, or stretching/yoga lite.

I am a fitness fanatic. I go to the local YMCA once per week for a workout - which consists of lunges, squats, calf raises, and some other hip mobility/flexibility training plus pick-up basketball for some cardio. Besides that, I do everything else at home. A few years back, I installed a nice pull-up bar outside the house. I'll do pull-ups even during winter months. I do push-ups and deep stretching exercises inside the house. I do have a treadmill for some cardio and some lightweight dumbbells for shoulder workouts.
As for diet, I eat pretty much anything besides sweets and I fast (pretty religiously) for 16 hours every day.

I have just started working out again as a part of my effort to drop weight and be in better shape for our BW trip this summer. I really have trouble motivating to go to the gym. I prefer to combine my workout with things I plan to do anyway or time I am spending with my family like our weekend hikes. I have been using free weights at home and do a lot of aerobic walking. I haven't dusted off the stationary bike in the basement yet...

It helps that I need to visit my dad everyday and he is within walking distance plus 4 flights of stairs. And then today I parked more than a mile from where I was going and walked it there and back (and avoided the cost of parking).

Looking forward to setting up our practice portage route and doing some circuits with a canoe or pack on my shoulders.

Consider a weighted vest, if you aren't doing too many miles.

I have a treadmill and squat rack at home along with all the accoutrements. I also have access to a very nice gym at work with lots of really nice equipment. I USED to be really good about using them but have had a several year hiatus. I finally decided I needed extra motivation (other than my doctor and wanting to spend several more decades with my wife and kids) so I joined a gym. The thought is that the actually cost of the gym will motivate me to get there. It is working! By signing up I was able to get a free session with a trainer. His workout made my legs hurt so bad I only made back one time in the seven days and that was for a simple half hour walking on the treadmill.

At some point, once I have the habit formed, I plan on cancelling and go back to using home and work gym.

I think the single most important thing is to have a routine, any routine. You can always modify your routine. I think there are a few recognized guidelines. The folks at the local YMCA say that you need to do something at least three times a week to make progress (get stronger or build endurance). Plus they often recommend taking a day off between sessions so doing some things three times a week seems like a good strategy. So one routine could be as simple as lifting light weights for 30 minutes in Monday, Wdnesday and Friday. For cardio work they recommend 30 minutes a day 5-6 times a week. For core exercises for lower back fitness I've also heard 5-6 times a week.

I have a good thick tumbling mat at home that I use for core exercises to help avoid lower back pain. It gives me my exercise place at home. I've backed off on light weight lifting 3 times a week and now I swim instead. I supplement with cardio on machines but not as routinely.

Decided to get healthier. So I work out at home. I do roughly 100 squats and 100 pushups followed by planks/abs andI have two 25 lb dumbbells that I do a variety of stuff. I don't do a full workout. I do 20 pushups one hour... get bored later on and do 30 curls with 50 squats another hour.... I do that throughout the day everyday.
