The iMac isn't the problem (although some narrow-minded folks still only create maps that can be downloaded with Windoze -- and I have a workaround for that, too, if you'd like it). It's the Lowrance that may be the limiting factor. I use an iMac but never did any connection directly between my Lowrance ExpeditionC and computer; I only saved trails and waypoints to a card and used a card reader to back them up on my Mac. The only maps I used with my Lowrance were the LakeMaster and Navionics pre-programmed cards that I purchased and upgraded over the years. Not sure what you might find to d/l and put on a chip to read with yours; I never got into that sort of thing until I got my Garmin GPSMAP 62st. (My Lowrance died over a year ago and I've never looked back.)
Good luck.

Thanks---I am seeing my Lowrance is the limiting factor. Saw others were D/L maps with other devices and wanted to make sure I wasn't missign soemthing.
Lakemaster doesn't make chips for them anymore since Hummingbird bought Lakemaster. Luckily I have one of those before they quite supporting Lowrance.
My dad has a LOTW Lakemaster chip and it has good detail of the Quetico, I just hate borrowing from him for my trips since he is 3 hours away. So I can live without the D/L maps if I have to.
When my GPS finally dies I will rethink what I get next time.
