I put this in the general tripping section, but this probably belongs here.

So where would you go for 7-8 days starting June 19th? Up through Agnes into Iron? Or perhaps Agnes to Oyster then up to Gabe to Lac la croix? I've only been to Agnes once, and we just base camped and fished there for 5 days and enjoyed good fishing.

I'll be taking a Merlin cedar strip solo that I built and trying to travel somewhat light. I will probably double portage and take my time. I do like to fish and it seems Iron is popular for fishing.

I've read a lot of the reports and I just can't decide on a route. My friend that I usually trip with can't go this year so I am on my own.

Thanks

Hank

If it were my trip I would go the Oyster to Gabe and up to LLC. Less people than Agnes, Iron.

That was my initial thought, but then I wondered if I would feel more comfortable having more people around as this is my first solo trip.

How about going up to Iron and coming down to Stuart and back out to the Boulder River and back out EP16.

With that much time you could make the interior loop through Oyster, Gebe, Pocket, Finger, Steep, South, Loon, etc., either coming out #14 LISN or all the way back across Shell, etc. and out Moose River, but it depends on what you want out of the trip. It is your trip, so do what suits you.

That's just it, I'm quite sure what I want to do. I might need to keep moving each day to pass the time, or I might just be content to squat in one place and just enjoy not having anything I have to do.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I've found that I like a combination of layovers with day trips and traveling. An average of every other day or so seems nice. Also, I plan my solo travel days to be about 2 miles shorter.

Lots of great lakes to explore in this area. I have been considering this area for a solo trip of my own. I think I would try to spend more time on the smaller lakes when solo than the large ones like agnes, iron, stuart and areas of llc. But if weather was well and wind was low, I might change plans. I think my entire trip would be a go with the flow style trip and just do what I want each day. There are many different ways to travel through the region, and you have enough time to do just about any loop. Areas I personally want to see in the region include lady boot bay, ge-be, pocket and I would like to visit boulder bay/river again.
