A crappy ski season that is.

Four outings in three days. Straight. And the last couple of hours on that last Monday were so obviously the beginning of the end. At least it included a moonlight/candlelight ski that Saturday night. Good times.

I returned to Ely from a relatively lengthy hiatus on Feb 21- a day we gathered 8" of snow, enough that for the first time of the year you could safely ski in the woods. It continued to snow off and on during my three weeks home and I skied everyday but one, usually between 20 and 30 km. The day I left it climbed to 50 degrees and has not dropped below freezing since. I think I am the cause of Ely warming.

Yep, I agree.
We had to go north to get in any ski trips.
I skied the Flathorn/Gegoka trails in Isabella. Then, late Feb, we skied the Banadad Trail. Also did a short ski at Copper Falls SP in northern WI. They were all beautiful and at least I got to glide a handful of times.

Banadad was nice a week and a half ago. Really enjoyed it after the cruddy winter in the cities.

I had a great ski at Lake Maria St. Park on the Saturday after our "big" snow in late Feb. Enjoyed it so much I went over to French Park at Medicine Lake, and in 15 minutes of skiing, after stretching, I popped a butt muscle! Left leg slipped and right leg couldn't take the strain. Glad the season is over or I'd really feel bad.

Are the trails pretty nice there? I've been there in the summer a couple times but only to go on the lake.

I wanted to my annual March BWCA trip this weekend, but conditions just are not there. Did about 20 outings on local lakes skiing this winter. Even went snowshoeing once, even tho snow was not that deep. Good year to buy winter gear.
