God has shown me many things in BWCA.
But the one that my two sons talk about is,after many days of rain and wind it looked like it was going to clear up. We went out fishing for about two hours and we could see the clouds begin to come back in and hear thunder in the distance.
Went back to camp and by this time dark low clouds had moved in. We gathered on a group of rocks down by the lake, held hands and began to pray for clear skies and sunny days.
When we looked up we could see a small hole in the clouds and after a few minutes it broke up and began to disappear. The rest of the trip was great.
AMAZING.

We were camping on our oldest daughters bday and were paddling along when she spotted something in the reeds. We paddled over and there right in the middle of no where was a happy bday balloon. She picked it up and said.. Thanks God!

Besides that I can't count the dozens and dozens of times He has kept us safe in bad storms. It amazes me every time.

Wow- that's a great question, plumberdave! (By the way, I'm not terribly far from you- I live in Waconia)

I've had a few experiences in the BWCA that have brought me to tears in ways that just don't seem to happen at home.

1) My dad died a long time ago (1986) but he loved to sing the old hymns of the church. For some reason, those old songs came to mind sitting on the side of the lake and I started softly singing them. In the middle of that I felt like God was saying to me, "you know, he's up here singing those with you."

2) I don't know about you but my life has circulated through several states and three years in Ecuador. There's been some times that come to mind when I've hurt someone in some way. Again, sitting by the lake one morning I felt like God was saying, "These people in your mind are my people and I talk to my people regularly about forgiveness. Please know that they've forgiven you as I've forgiven you."

3) I tend to control my emotions pretty well around here. But, "how I really feel" comes out up there. I've never cried so hard as I've done up there. Yikes- probably disturbed campers somewhere, but it just all came washing out at once. I've wondered where the BWCA is the place God cleanses my emotional being.
