Awhile back I set up an account on solotripping.com. I cannot read any posts on the message board, and I've sent more than one email to inquire about this to no avail. I set up another account for my wife and experienced the same problems.

Does anyone on this board know whom I can contact to address this? My apologies if posting this is offensive to anyone on this site; that is certainly not my intent. I have noticed a few of the same screen names on both sites so I thought I would inquire.

solotrip@gmail.com.

Thats Harlan. He is the only one running the site. I don't know what he has been up to lately.

I did the same thing a while back and had the same problem using fire fox. I then switched to safari and I was able to read the posts.

I just tried this, and at least with Safari I can read the posts-still cannot reply or start new posts.

I'll keep trying Harlan, and thanks, everyone, for the input! Much appreciated.

I had a similar problem with Solotripping.com. Emailed Harlan but never heard back. Except for the rare visit, I've sort of given up on the site.

I had the same problem, then one day I could reply to the posts.

I've been reading somewhere that using Google Chrome helps, but that was no better than Safari. Again, at least I can now read the threads.

Last I talked to Harlan, he plans to be at Midwest Mountaineering's Expo. I plan on going Sunday after Wing Night... He also owns Red Lake Outfitters. He's a good guy and will take care of you. Solotripping.com is a good site, but don't expect the volume of post like bwca.com.

Harlan is help me organize/plan my WCPP trip, and I am looking forward to meeting him @ the Expo. I am probably going to be there on Saturday as I want to be at the auction and I'll head to WN after that.

I use Chrome and have no problems now. His site has been hacked in the past I know.

Good luck. Fabulous site, but it took me three months from first attempt to be granted membership privileges. I've been on chrome for years and was able to read posts immediately, but I also futilely tried ie9, FF and safari to join. The mod probably is swamped, which happens when you're the only mod.

I run Chrome along with IE9 64 bit, and Fire Fox.
Chrome is quicker and does not have the trouble with plugins and security the other browsers have, it has become my primary browser program. Just connected with solotripping.com and logged in with password about 30 seconds no trouble.
I'd recommend trying Chrome.

You might want to check whether you can post. I could log in, but couldn't get full permission so couldn't post.

No problem, just posted to a rack question.

Yeah, as I was trying (and trying...) to get on over the fall/winter that seemed to be the case, that issues were intermittent. Some just never got that follow up email to authenticate their account, others did (and it was not a junk folder or server issue. The email was just not sent, mostly, I think, because it is not an automated thing, but it done manually by the mod.).

Have you gotten the email that your account has been activated?.....seems I remember something like that?? Maybe Harlan has been busy and hasn't got to that yet?

03/28/2012 09:25AM
I never received an email, and at this point, I am just going to let it go.

Keep trying, Frenchy, and as suggested upstream in this thread enlist the assistance of those who are on the site and know Harlan. It will happen for you eventually. As mentioned, I first tried to get on in September, finally succeeded in getting posting permission in January. It's a great site full of very knowledgeable soloists, so worth the trouble!

I went back in my old e mails and when I applied to the forum and when it was activated was over a month. I had almost forgot about it too. Your account is not activated till they send you an e mail saying it was activated. I think that is how it worked for me and that was in January and February. I still have not tried to post anything there yet.
