The snow earlier this week made for some good photos of birds not normally associated with snow in Ely. The feeders were very active too with mostly Juncos, Nuthatches and Chickadees. In their feeding frenzy a few were hitting the window.

There was a bird I am trying to identify that hit the window and lay stunned most of the afternoon. It was all a light brown color. I took it in the cabin overnight because the low was going to be 15 degrees. I didn't give it much hope at that point. I put a clothes basket over it and went to bed. When it heard me get up in the morning it was jumping around . It seemed OK and must have had a concussion.

The photo of the Robin is being used on KSTP.com Weather home page today. The caption reads "Confused Robin ponders Spring Snowfall in Ely, MN."

Nice pictures, Zulu. Did you get a picture of the brown bird that hit the window too? Or more description?

No I didn't get a photo of the bird even though it was right in the cabin with me all night. I can only describe it as consistently brown all over. It may have been a female that is not pictured in my bird book. I really havn't see another one by the feeder since.

I am hearing and seeing new birds every day. A great time of year.
