Anyone have any experience on this river? Especially near the upper stretch.

Answering my own....

Yesterday we did the stretch from state highway 22 to Forest City. In a nut shell, this portion of the river needs some TLC.

The first 2-3 miles had several areas where trees had fallen across the river making passage by water impossible in several areas. There was also some similarly troubled areas as we neared Forest city.

It looks like the river receives - at least some maintenance - as we paddled past areas with several old sawed off limbs. But, since there were no campsites or neat rest areas along the way, we'll probably choose a different section of the river for next time.
