I have been looking for a solo canoe for this year to use in the BWCA trip. There are 3 on craigslist in my area:

Wenonah Voyager 17 in kevlar with custom rudder. . .38 lbs. . .$650

Wenanah Prism 16 foot in tuffweave. . .49 lbs. . .$600

Wabash Valley Kevlar solo canoe, 16 ft. . .$700

I used a Prism last year for our trip and really liked it, although had to struggle somewhat to keep up with the larger/longer canoes.

Which one would you buy

I can only answer to the Wenonah, as I am familiar with them

Voyager - that is a great price if it is in good shape, it is faster than the Prism on calm water but the difference isn't huge, the lighter weight is a plus for portaging, more difficult to lay down a pack since it is more narrow, never heard of a rudder on a Voyager but it would likely aide in a stiff following wind to keep it on track

prism - much better boat for fishing, if you are going to be paddling rocky rivers the Tuffweave is much better than kevlar, a little easier to paddle proficiently by a novice
