Great Report! I can't imagine tripping without my brother.

Congratulations on a successful 1st trip - hopefully many more to come. Your trip report was fantastic - enjoyed all the photos - thanks for sharing.

Enjoyed reading about your initial BW trip with your brother. It sounds like you were well-prepared for your first trip and things went fairly smoothly. There are always things to do differently next time, but it sounds like a pretty smooth rookie trip.

Nice trip report!

I'm always willing to let people "brag" about how they portaged more weight than me. In my mind they were my sherpa :)

Great report... I wouldn't solo if I had a brother. Hope to hear about trip #2 next.

Well sounds like you cut your teeth on a real nice adventure.
I couldn't help but think...Isn't it great to have this trip under your belt. You learn so much from your first trip. It is amazing!!
All in all, you faired really well, and learned a lot.
The next trip will be even better!
Thanks for sharing.
Tell us what you did wrong in your mind and what you would like to do different, on the next trip, just curious, since it was your first trip.

Thanks for all the nice comments everybody.
As far as what we did wrong, paddling too late into the day tops the list. and driving all night the night before made for a long day. I think all of the research we did on gear and techniques helped a lot. We spent hours on this website and reading through books. I would also get some more guidance for fishing spots and give ourselves more dedicated fishing time. Oh and definitely can bring less food. I don't remember how much the food we brought back weighed but it was too much. Our overly researched gear all performed well. The vittle vault in the food pack was awesome. No worries about rodents in our food. Cinch straps on the hammocks made putting them up take seconds. Peak 1 stove was easy on fuel, we refilled it at the end of the trip so we only went through about 1.25 tankfuls. Also need more practice filleting northerns. I don't think there was really anything that got brought that we would leave behind next time, other than the excess food.

Thanks for sharing your trip. It was a pleasure to read. Had a couple good laughs at your adventure thanks to Royce and you. I know how much work it takes to make a report so thanks again.

sounds like a blast! really enjoyed reading your story and all the times you mention "next time".... crossing sag in the wind is no fun, sounds like you did a great job.

It sounds like you communicate the same way my brothers and I do. We call it communication, others call it augmentative and bickering. Nice trip report. Makes me miss my brothers. Good job.

Great report! Thanks. I have spent years trying to get my brother to go on a trip with me. He finally is this coming fall.

I enjoyed reading the report. I have only been on two trips, both of them with my brother like you guys, so I could relate. We are going again next month and I can't wait!

I was very entertained by this. I always love reading trip reports of their first time. All those unsure feelings that you guys had are the same ones I had. I gotta feeling you guys will be old pros in 5 years or so.

You're lucky to have a brother who enjoys it as much as you. I took my youngest brother when he was 16 and that was in 1992 and he hasn't been back. I took my Dad in 2000 and when we got back I overheard him say to my mom that he "sure won't ever do THAT again!"

My other brother is mid 40's now and says his bad knee won't let him do a trip like that and prefers boats with motors and resorts with beds anyway. So yeah, you guys are lucky and just started a long tradition I think. Thanks for posting and good luck on future trips.

One improvement we decided we'll be making is rigging up a Sawyer in line filter system so we don't have to spend time pumping water by hand.
