I just got back from my first solo. I went in at Poplar, renting a Prism from Rockwood (Great people!). I went in Sat. and came out Wed.
My goal was to see a moose so I base camped at Horseshoe lake. Saw my first moose at 9 am Sat. AWESOME. I saw another (same?) moose on Tuesday.
I had rain 3 out of 5 days but still had a great time. I toured around the area, did a little fishing, read a book and just relaxed.
Soloing is a bit of work but I loved it.
ps. I triple portaged. I was on vacation not doing an Eco-challenge. Anyone remember that show?

I'm glad you had a good first solo and saw your first moose. I think one of the advantages of a solo is that you're just naturally quiter than a group or even a pair, and your chances of seeing wildlife are improved.
I'll be renting a Prism from Rockwood this fall and entering at #50, Cross Bay. How did the Prism work for you? Was it easy to trim?
Yes, I remember Eco-Challenge - use to love to watch it.

Congratulations on your first solo. They are fantastic to experience. Glad you were able to see a moose. I highly recommend for your next trip you do a loop or in and out at two separate entries.
I rented Prisms for several years before buying a Bell Magic. I found the Prisms to be quite susceptible to wind. My experience was that I always had to trim them for headwinds by placing weight far forward.

Congratulations! I'm doing my first solo June 19th and am excited. I'm glad you had a successful debut.
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly.
