On our last trip we brought along a couple of the new "Mio" drink mixes. They come in a small plastic squeeze bottle (couple of ounces), and add a lot of flavor to your drinking water. Just squeeze a little into your Nalgene or into a cup and you've got a nice flavored drink. They come in a variety of flavors. I'm diabetic and buy the sugar free variety, but they also make them as an "energy drink" (which I assume has some sugar).

Handy on canoe trips, the containers are small, and you don't need much liquid per drink bottle.

Haven't seen them. Where are they found?

Used Mio on my last trip. Works great, favorite is the "Green Thunder", which tastes like sour apple!

Target and cub foods has them in the Cities. Check in try the powdered drink section. Target also has their own knock off brand. Used them a couple of weeks ago they work great.

Yep, in the store where I shop, they are found with the powdered drink mixes like Crystal Lite and Kool Aid.

Was it the green part or the thunder, that caused trouble?

Must have been the green part.....the thunder came from the chili.

The gree flavor and the black cherry flavor are 'energy drinks' they have stimulants like caffeine and taurine and other 'ines'

They have a sweet tea, peach tea, fruit punch and berry pommegranite that aren't of the 'energy' variety and just add flavor.

Orange & Tangerine mixed in carbonated water (e.g. from SodaStream) tastes just like an orange soda I had as a kid (Nehi brand). Man did that bring back memories!

Our local grocery stores and Walmart carry the MIO brand.

I reuse the bottles for other purposes. I use one for olive oil, one for sunscreen, etc.

By their website - they are all 0 calorie - so I'd say none of them have any sugar.

Will have to try.

I was on a grocery shopping trip yesterday buying for my trip and bought two of the green thunder. Just looked and it says sugar 0g.

I used to be diabetic also but don't have to do anything since my gastric bypass but do have to be careful of sugar intake or my body starts making to much insulin and I go low now.

The bottles are easy to clean out. Just cut the label off and pop the top part of the bottle off with a screwdriver. Then wash out and let air out. You still might have a aftertaste from the Mio but otherwise not too bad. Use for Soy sauce, olive oil and other oils. Don't useanything that is chunky as the No drip lid will clog up.

Yup- Guess I get the DUH for the day!! I did just that- cut the label off, and found where the top pops off. I thought I'd have to somehow get sudsy water in through the little rubber squirty thing... DUH......

Try mixing Jameson and Baileys 1:1 my go-to packing and canoe-tripping drink. It doesn't even have to be cold and it's still delicious.

I had friends who got this for their son who has a definite hyper side. They did not realize that the flavor he picked was caffeinated. All flavors are not, but you have to check.

What a great idea... I have some similar bottles of Kool Aid drink drops and will have to save them when they are empty to see if they will work for oil.
