What kind of pad do you have? Why? Make?

i've got homemade pads in my royalex old town. i got the material at A-1 foam rubber, in bloomington. royalex is really slippery when wet and when running whitewater the pads give your knees a solid grip.

I have some two dozen...but I doubt you want to hear about the ones for day tripping portageless outings.

I just glue in

padz flat knee pads

That way I have nothing that needs toting on the portages.

At home in cedar ribbed canvas canoes I can't glue in and use one of the CCS pads or a couple of homemade thick minicell cored neoprene jersey covered pads.

Bell used to make a pad too but it wore through fast in ribbed boats.

Then there were the old moose pads. Ope cell foam pads in a boat were a disaster. Two lbs going in ...about 40 going out.

I do not have Grade VI pads but those are another alternative.

You can also get the workshop flooring from Lowes that has puzzle edges and run it gunwale to gunwale and trim off the excess. Its a cheap pad..but slippery when wet.

I use foam stolen from an old, cheap child's lifejacket. Cut down to size, it's the perfect density for me.

I bought the CCS pad, and it works fine, it is not glued in but bdb to the thwart.

I like it SunCatcher

I use knee pads - the kind one wears around one's knees.
