It's always a learning experience. Glad all were safe and had fun.

Thanks for the report, SummerSkin. It sounds like you enjoyed your trip despite everything. Every trip is a learning experience. Hope your next one is even better.

BTW, I didn't find your title offensive, but I didn't think it was meant to be "cute" - just descriptive.

Nice report SS. I entered the park the day after you returned and experienced the same weather as you. Even though it was a bit rainy and windy I enjoyed myself. You are right when you spoke of the shared experience with your friends. The Quetico is a unique place and I am very thankful for it. God bless ~JOE~

Good report. Fine photos. You look like a good group. The only thing that scares me about the Quetico is your talking about all the canoes coming out of Agnes. I thought Quetico was supposed to be the empty park.

Very nice report. I really liked they way you capture the emotions and exhilaration of a tough trip. You are right about that island view of Burke. Beautiful photos. I'm down with Bird on the tent placement.

I, too, was surprised at the number of people we encountered coming out of the S-chain. We met someone at almost every portage. The group of boy scouts was large (definitely more than 9), but they went up towards Kashapiwi away from us.

The biggest crowd was on Sunday Lake. There were 4 good campsites and all of them were occupied by the time we arrived around 6 p.m.

Thanks to everyone else for checking out the report! This site was absolutely instrumental in making our trip a success, so I wanted to be sure to at least try to give back in some small way.

Great trip report SS. I did that same trip but in reverse the first time I did Quetico. I use the same outfitter too, they're great! The meadows portages are definitely not fun, no matter when in the trip you face them.

Glad everyone was safe after the dump on North Bay!

nicely written report, lifetime adventure, no doubt.

Scrimp, save, splurge, whateva, next time and rent light canoes. Portages will be soooo much easier. Although aluminum canoes are really stable for new paddlers, kind of a trade off.

I was planning to visit Quetico next year, but you've changed my mind. I really like lakes to myself. I've spent about two years in the Canadian Shield, of which the BWCA and the Quetico are small parts, and I've never met anyone on a portage trail. The price I pay is that the portage trails I use don't look like the portage trails of the parks. Sometimes you can't even tell if you're still on the trail. Instead of bumping into people, you're bumping into trees. So, there are advantages and disadvantages to each way. I'd rather bump into a tree than a person, but most people I think prefer the latter.
