The other day I got some news that an old friend got a new, "good fit", job. As he told me about it we mused upon the various ways to understand what God is doing in our lives and why, for years, it feels like things are out of whack then all of a sudden you couldn't stop the blessing if you wanted to. You feel like you're drowning, and out of the blue comes a boat and all you have to do is to get in and let it float and it will take you to the best places of all. I think the point in all of that is that we make Christian faith into this cause and effect, external kind of thing when it is has actually always been a "Christ in you" internal kind of thing. It's nice to know that when we lose our way, we're still connected to a beacon out there.
