10 days from now I should be pushing my wet feet from EP 16 and begin my first solo in the BWCA! The excitement and anticipation is almost unbearable.
With the blessing from the man above and with mother nature's cooperation(FINGERS CROSSED), I hope to push through Agnes and begin fishing my way through the Boulder River while eventually landing in Boulder Bay or just past Never Fail Bay, depending on the weather and my luck/health. From there the schedule is relatively open(6 nights, 7 days)but fishing and solitude will be high on my agenda!

** In regards to traveling this area, would anyone recommend going to Finger and or Hustler Lake for a quick detour? My "planned" route is through FSN, down through Toe, Lady Boot, up to Pocket, then through Ge-Be, Oyster, Ramshead, etc. This is all dependent on the weather, of course. I'm trying to find some worth while day trips from either Pocket or Finger? Any other general info about that area/route would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! Looking forward to some last minute advice...

Yes, I'd recommend Finger - it's a nice lake and the paddle on Finger Creek is nice.

I'm even starting to get antsy and...I've still got 51 days until I leave home, 54 days until I enter the BW.

Ramshead was pretty nasty last fall - poor water quality, low, kind of stinky. Lot's of algae growth.
Don't know how it is this year.

Finger is good.

Hahaha! The feeling only gets worse the closer it gets to entry. This Sunday seems like FOREVER from now!

Where are you headed? Will it be a paddle or basecamp trip?

Thanks a lot for the report IBFLY! Sounds like Finger will definitely be a stop on my loop from all the replies, maybe a day trip from Pocket or does Finger deserve more "time"...?

Pocket's nice, but I'd camp on Finger. But I've got memories from my time there - northern lights, wolves howling. If you haven't already done so, you should check out Uncle Moose's video trip report for a unique view of parts of your trip. Might make you want to get up and go right now though.

BW, don't forget to turn on your speakers and adjust the volume up before you start the video. The narration is nil, but what you do get is the sound of the wind in the trees, the waves slapping on the canoe, the rushing waters, the animals.

Armydaddy, ...sorry I haven't checked this post recently.
To answer you question, I taking two weeks to go from Round Lake to Little Sag, to Boulder, to Makwa, to Mora, to Tuscarora, and back out through Round. Then I can check it off my bucket list. Ha!

Armydad -- I'm headed up into the Q where I plan to primarily base camp, fish a bit and do a few easy day trips. I'm getting lazy. Me thinks that my days of covering mileage are over.

No worries on not checkin the board lately, life gets hectic.
Wow, what a trip! That's a lot of ground but where there's a will there's a way! Plus, you got plenty of time! Enjoy and be safe, I will make sure to take lots of pictures and post a thoughtful trip report...

Any trip to the Q is a good one. Next year I hope to explore the Q more but there's so much ground to cover in the B-Dub! Not complaining, of course ;)

Thanks for the link boonie, great trip report and video. Hopefully I will be able to invest in something like that (camera) in the future. Until then it's waterproof disposable and mediocre digital ;)

I will explore both Pocket and Finger (weather permitting) and will go from there. Thanks again for the advice, I hope to come back with a good trip report and even better photos!
