I'm glad you can still get out and enjoy canoe camping. I'm not far behind you in age and I'd like to do the base camp thing too but I've been going with my 24 year old son and he won't allow it....yet. Looking forward to your next trip report.

Nice report George. Good to hear you and the misses got back on the tripping horse and didn't fall off. At a young 60 myself, I wish you two many more years of outdoor enjoyment.

I love the outdoors and hope (pray) that I can still be out there doing trips like you all did. Keep on going and adjust the difficulty as needed. You are an inspiration to us all.

Very nice trip report G.L. Just so you know, ...it was me Mort (and my crew) who were the ones who met up with you on the Mellon portage. Everybody in my group told me, "What really, really nice people" you are. Glad to hear that your adventure turned out to be meaningful and enjoyable.I was glad to be able to help you out on the portage crossing. Hope next year's trip will be even better for you, now that you've got a good sense of how you want to adjust and improve on it.

What a wonderful trip - you are an inspiration to others not to quit. My husband is 67 and I am 58 and I want to paddle for a long time to come. But the reality of aging cannot be ignored. We have learned to alter our trips a bit - and we still enjoy them even though we do not travel as far as we used to. We just try to take it slow and enjoy the beauty around us. Best wishes for many more trips to come.

Glad to hear it went well enough for you to continue. Nothing wrong with base camping although it's not my style (yet). I'm still chugging along, just a little slower than I used to.

That was a nice report George. Good for you and your wife on getting back out there. I am only 56 but I have always base camped. Fishing is my thing. I have a great spot in the Quetico that is easy to get to and somewhat secluded. Email me if you would like to know where it is. Just promise me we won't go there on the same week. ~JOE~

George,
So very happy for your blessing of being able for the two of you to pull this off! You are a great inspiration to overcome the stroke and your wife the knee surguries. It is awesome that you two had the tenacity and get it done attitude!
You are a true hero for living your dream.

Paul, thx for the nice comments. We are just excited to be doing our dreams again. It was worth the difficulty to get back to doing it. I enjoyed your and Byron's visit as did our dogs! Hopefully next time Lesley will be here so you can have some good eats. Now that the quetico bug has bitten you and there is no cure, you will be back.
