This was new this year...I didn't tell anyone it was on the menu.

Ingredients
1 box Zatarins Black beans and Rice
1 box Zatarins Red Beans and Rice
1 package dehydrated sweet corn
2# dehydrated hamburger.

Add amount of water called for on the box + 1 cup for the burger and sweet corn.

Add burger and sweet corn and heat to boiling.
Add the 2 boxes of Beans and Rice and followed the recipe instructions on the box

Was a very tasty dish....plus with the rice we didn't seem to suffer the gaseous consequences the Darn Good Chile does.

No complaints and fed 6 comfortable (2 HS teenage boys)

I like one pot meals and this seems to be easy tastey

We always take them along with tortillas. Makes a nice burrito meal.

If you don't have dehydrator, you can add pouch chicken, or sausages to this mix as well. Good stuff, but still methane producer, :)

I usually take up precooked and dried darn good chili with 2lbs ground beef with precooked and dried Zatarin's black bean and rice for a side dish. Add corn bread in the reflector oven and haven't had any complaints.

Zatarins is great for a side dish and works well in fish tacos.

This sounds like something I'll try on my next 6-person trip. Curious, got a name for it?

We have been making BWCA burritos with Zatarin's, canned chicken, canned chili peppers of any kind and tortilla shells. This works really well for a group meal since its so filling and easy to make. Doesn't hurt to add a few dashes of hot sauce either!

Cheers!

Same here. We also have added pre-cooked shredded chicken seasoned with taco seasoning.

I've always liked it with just some summer sausage cut up and mixed in.

I always bring Zatarains Black Beans & Rice to be eaten with Bear Creek Best Darn Chili. I make both at home, in fact, just got done making my BWCA May trips portions this weekend. I add ground beef to the chili and some spices, make the black beans & rice and then dehydrate both after cooking. Much easier to make in BWCA, just add water to both, rehydrate and heat. Add some reflector oven corn bread and it's always a hit with my canoeing partners.
