Last year I dehydrated applesauce, spaghetti sauce, etc... Everything stuck to the wax paper in my american havestor. This year I have an Excalibar 9 tray but no plastic liners. I thought I could use parchment paper-it still stuck. I now am trying plastic coated freezer paper (keeping my fingers crossed). There is no time to order online, the teflon coated sheets which fit this dehydrator and I can't seem to find them locally. Is there an alternative that could work somewhat well. Does anybody just roll up the wax paper with the sauce on it and then remove it after rehydration? Only 10 days to BWCA!!!!!!!!!! Help please

I just finished spaghetti sauce on parchment paper and peeled off very easy. Try another brand of parchment? Mine is the cheap store brand - Homelife I think. Sure worked better than the fruit roll up trays that came with my Nesco.

what temperature are you dehydrating this stuff at?? Parchment should work no problem. Change the brand of parchment and maybe turn your temperature down a little? it might be running too warm.

I am running at 135deg which is what the excalibar recommends for fruit rolls. The parchment paper is from Walmart Brand is Gourmet Club and says it is good for 375deg. I will see how the plastic coated freezer paper works and then try a batch at a lower temp. with the parchment tommorrow.

The applesauce came out really good except for one thing- My daughter cut her finger on the applesauce while trying to remove it from the wax paper. It came out similar to hard tack candy. It took a little effort to rehydrate but tasted great. On the lighter side, we planned on using the applesauce as bear protection by throwing the shards at them.

Great news!!!!!!! The Reynolds brand plastic coated freezer paper worked great. The spaghetti sauce and chunky salsa peeled right up! look out tommorrow, I will be dehydrating full bore! ;-)
Hamburger, salsa, spaghetti sauce, applesauce, cottage cheese (for lasagna), and of course lots and lots of jerky.

I had same problem using wax paper, if you flip it over and wet the backside of the paper, it comes right off. Then I just put the now sheets of applesauce or spaghetti sauce back in for a couple more hours, works great. No problem with parchment paper.
Applesauce is a big hit, just pour it on the parchment paper and dehydrate. Great snack as is no rehydrating needed. Only issue I had was a sticky mess under the dehydrator when it was done, next time I will use foil under it.

Try making the lasagna, then dehydrating it. I do baked ziti, and it rehydrates great..

I use plastic wrap, and it peels right off. I blend bananas or strawberries with applesauce and dry it. We eat it as is. Fruit leather.

I have always used the plastic trays that come with my American Harvestor. I use the different flavored Mott's sauce or the Roundy's brand for making fruit roll-ups. They are also used for spaghetti sauce. Again, no problem. I always felt that if I used wax paper, it might leave some residue on the fruit roll-up. 4 of the individual snack cups are perfect for one tray.
