Paddled several miles of it last weekend in the Wild River State Park area. Had a blast. The state park campground was sweet as well. Lots of good naturalist and history stuff going on that we attended.
Great time, I suggest it for a good weekend trip. We did stay in the park but there are canoe camping sites on the river.

My buddy and I were just talking about our upcoming trip on the 8th. He mentioned the Croix but thats all it was, just a mention. We pretty much decided on either the upper cannon or the kettle, but we are having a heck of a time finding any info on either. Like camping, put in spot ect. Something told me to come on here and check the board and whaddayaknow, heres a post on the St. Croix. What an awesome looking area.

Do you know of any outfitters in the area that could transport us from a take out point to an entry point?

Or, if we took two vehicles, what entry/exit points do you know of/recommend?

Thanks, Todd

All three of those rivers are state water trails and have maps with descriptions on the MN DNR website. Here is the main water trail page. There is also a list of outfitters at the bottom of the page for the individual water trails. I personally don’t know of any outfitters who serve the upper Cannon and none are listed with an address above Cannon Falls. Maybe Snake River Outfitters serve the Kettle River too.

Thanks inspector. Much better map than I downloaded. Mine was a plain black and white. As it stands now, we are going to do a weekend paddle down the St. Croix. I googled the are around Wild River SP where Fitgers was and man, that is some nice lookin area.

I would consider parking a vehicle at Wild River SP and then launching from St Croix SP if you have enough time. That is what I am looking at doing for our next trip in that area. I'm not sure how it would work going south of Wild River as there is a dam in Taylers Falls. Might be able to long term park at the St Croix National Scenic River (not sure if that is the right name, I apologize... I'm in Wis Dells and I had too much sun and water slide fun today) anyway, there is a visitor center on the north side of Taylors Falls for the St Croix River area run by the national park service. If one can portage around the dam, consider going to William OBrien SP.
Let us know how the trip goes

Oops. As of now, I know of no outfitters but there are canoe rental companies that operate out of some of this parks. I know there is at wild river and I believe Interstate (south side of Taylors Falls) but it might be the actual park renting at Interstate. I'm pretty sure they rent at St Croix too. Those people may know of other outfitters in the area
