Was wondering if any body hunts ducks in bwca and where a good place to go, paddling in on the 4th of Oct. Was wondering if it was worth bringing the gun. Do any of you hunt grouse also.

Personally I wouldn't hunt ducks in the bdub as I have never seen enough to make it worthwhile. Of course that is in the summer so I don't know what it looks like in the fall when they start moving south. I duck hunt west central MN and goose hunt NW MN.

Only two places stick out in my mind that I have seen local ducks. Both rivers. The Little Indian Sioux and the Kawishiwi from Kawishiwi lake to Polly.

I do a lot of grouse hunting but have not in the bdub. I have seen them up there though.

I don't know that I would go specifically for hunting, but if you are going paddling, may as well bring your shotgun and have it available around camp or on portages. Ducks not so much, but grouse seem to be more common. But I spose that depends on what area you go to.

I'm going more for the fish, but it would be nice to maybe have fish and grouse for supper one night, and would give me something to do in the middle of the day.

What do you mean? We always seen alot on Lake Two in the spring about five or six year ago. How was the water level? My boss was up there last week and said it was up.

Bad attempt at a joke... you want to hunt "ducks" :) Seemed to be higher than normal for this time of year.
