An informative yet really interesting telling of the history of the Gunflint area & offers brief biographies of the many colorful characters who carved a living out of this wilderness area.
The book comes with a CD of interviews of people who have lived on the trail most (if not) all their lifes.
Just got this one in the mail today. Think we,ll listen to cd on the way up in a couple of weeks and read from the book during our trip. First time going to Gunflint area.

Through shining banks, through lonely glen,
Where the owl shrieks, though ne'er the cheer of men
Has stirred its mute repose,
