After 20 trips you know pretty much all there is to know. On a solo trip there is nobody to blame but yourself, so prepare for everything. Also, take something to read.

When I'm by myself, I take my time, enjoy what's around me, and take no risks

Take a book to read and a lantern for light. Keep a separate set of long wool underwear sealed in a bag for emergency use.
Have a ball!

If you get lonely while out there alone, feel free to talk to the trees, rocks, chipmunks, or even Wilson or anybody else who happens to magically appear.

Had a great time, couldn't ask for better weather. The northern lights on Sunday the 30th were spectacular and having a full moon made it like daytime at night, getting up at 5 or 6 AM it was all ready light out before the sun came up and made it easy to start fishing, I ate 3 walleye meals. The colors were amazing from the time I left home to the time I got to my campsite, the best part was the 2 campsites I could see, nobody stayed in them all 5 nights, so it was like I had the stretch of Kish river to myself. The water level is the lowest I've ever seen it, lots of extra rocks paddling up to the portages. Here's a few Pictures and can't wait for the next adventure.

Looks like you had color too! Nice pix.

I just got back from a five dayer..beautiful color. How did you find 13 hours of darkness?

I ran out of books. It rained every night(Gives meaning to the word hibernate) and maybe two hours of sun over the five days. But it was warm till the last night when a violent storm came through dropping the temp twenty degrees in five minutes with some snow.

thats a nice time of year to be in the BW,very different feeling to the place than spring when it's waking up from winter or those summer days when even the rocks are warm.
i stick to Brule lake on late fall trips and don't go far just in case there is a big change in the weather.

It a lot easier when it does not rain, even got a little nap in each day and would stay up to about 10 or 11, forgot to even take a book, lots of fishing, looking for wood and taking pictures. Loved every minute of having peace and quit already planning the next solo.

Glad you enjoyed it, Housty. I just returned a few days ago from mine - I was in from 9/25 to 10/2 - and the weather was just about perfect. We really lucked out on that - sunnybear had bad weather the week before I got there and it sounds like we just missed some after too.
