Anyone here done canoe camping in Manitoba? Nopiming Provincial Park, or any of the other parks? I really want to do a family trip to somewhere besides the BW, but the fees for Ontario parks are tough when you are paying for four people. Plus there's the thing with the roads to WCPP not being good for anyone without a four wheel drive vehicle, so that would either mean a shuttle ($200 one way) or a fly in ($$$$$???), or the choice of one other route that you can reach on the road before it gets bad. So...I was thinking of Manitoba, but info is scarce...or I haven't looked hard enough yet. :)

Thanks!

the bloodvein river is world class. it does require an air-flight though (maybe). north of la pas, manitoba, the chuchill River has some fairly accessible canoeing. it is a bit of a drive however.

winnipeg itself is worth a trip. any enthusiast of voyageur history would consider this city a must see.

Nopiming Provincial Park is one of my earliest memories of north woods canoe wilderness. my dad had a thing for finding out of the way places and checking them out. i must have been four or five, i still remember it.

plus the people in manitoba are the friendliest people in the world. i could give many cases to back up this claim, trust me. to meet these prairie canadians is just as wonderful as paddling their wilderness rivers.

I have been looking at going to Manitoba for a few years (Atikaki Provincial Park, specifically). We haven't gone yet, but in my searching I have come across a few resources. I have found the Manitoba CCR resources to be a great help.
