Anyone planning to hunt the BWCA for the duck opener?

I wish I was, I saw alot of ducks up there at the beginning of sept when I was there for the bear hunt.

where were you bear hunting?

I was, and sadly enough I was unable to bring any big bears out into the open. Bears 1 me 0.. I was just looking t some old maps and the last two Septembers we took trips through Upper Pauness Lake, and there were many ducks and geese on the Little Indian Sioux River (north)and the lake.

Would like to go and shoot a black duck. Never have got one of those. One is enough.

I was planning to hunt the little indian sioux (south) but my partner backed out at the last minute.

I have gotten a few black ducks over the years. The highest concentration of them I have seen has been down along the island river south of the BWCA. Not sure how the pagami creek fire impacted the rice down there, but if I were after a nice black duck, it is as good a place as any to start!
