Does anyone else start to get antsy this time of year and start planning? I just started a batch of mushrooms in my dehydrator (a new-to-me purchase at the thrift store for $6) and am eager to try a few more recipes before we start meal planning for our next adventure. What is your favorite thing to dehydrate? Do you have any special tricks or tips for dehydrating?

You should be able to find some suggestions if you go down about four posts!

Every night that I've had off for the last few weeks, I've been dehydrating :)

I've done so far:
macaroni/cheese - the box, just cook the noodles and split up the cheese into your baggy portions, then add some powdered milk. you can add butter if you like when you rehydrate.

shepard's pie - my grandmas recipe dehydrated. really easy, i dehyrate green beans, then hamburger/tomato soup/onion sauce, then in a separate baggy i do the instant potatoes with some powdered milk and garlic salt.

beef stroganoff - noodles cooked and dehyrated, beef/mushroom/onions dehydrated, then in separate baggie i put beef boullien, flour, and powdered milk.

potato soup - i cook up the soup with potatoes, pureed potatoes, onions, carrots - in a separate baggie place some flour in for rehydrating (to thicken).

anything goes as far as what i dehydrate, i just never add oils, butter or cheese. everything seems to turn out well. Then they all go in the freezer on the "dehydrated shelf" until we use them.

I like doing separate ingredients and I always find the ground beef most interesting. Gotten to like it just cold and crunchy. Not so big on whole dishes.
