fellow solo trippers--the link is to a 8 minute Youtube i did of the change in the weather from a nice warm southern breeze while enjoying the view down Lady Boot Bay until the change to that lead sky and pouring rain and back to clearing and a sunset.
you will get a view of my camp setup and the home made Baker Shelter that i always brag is so much better that just a tarp.

It's amazing how quickly it can change up there, sometimes in just hours, or even minutes ;) it seems. On his first trip with me, my brother couldn't get over how quickly and dramatically it would change.

Great video of how the weather can change so quickly. The evening view at the end was gorgeous.

Thanks for the video. What tent do you have?

the tent is a Hilleberg Atko..one person and tight on the inside but %100 weather proof and very light at just over 3 pounds.for many years up in the Q i used a Eureka Sun Rise,a bull frog shaped tent.it saved weight by using lots of screen and no door, just bug net there.
the tent is just a bedroom, that shelter you see is for everything else.
the weather is wild like everything else up there.i have turned about more than once to see a huge dark mass of clouds come over the shore line tree tops and dump a heap of rain on me as fast as i could pull out the poncho.
i'm just getting the hang of making, editing videos and getting them on Youtube.next project is a home made Steady Cam to take the shake and fix odd horizon lines---

Boy, I sure saw it when I was up there this fall. The one thing I really used was a weather radio. If for nothing else to get an idea of the possible winds. It was a little eiree on fishdance lake when they were tracking a bad storm and was naming off nearby lakes as to where it was. Turns out that storm set off several fires that would play a role as to where I'd end up.

Thanks for the great video WCD. Brings back fond memories. My method is to keep an eye on the sky, sense changes in barometric pressure (yes I can feel it,) and be ready to get off the water regardless of my planned destination.
