So this year I bought a #10 can of Honeyville powdered eggs for use in the BWCA. As it turned out I only ended up using about 1/2 of the can and have been finding uses for it since. Now the other day I was reading the ingredient list for a particular brand of eggnog and saw "Eggnog Base" listed as one of the ingredients. That got me thinking... Why wouldn't you be able to make an egg nog powdered drink mix? So I tried it, and I have to say, I'm impressed with the results. Here's the recipe:
1 pt (16oz) cold milk (I like whole)
1 C heavy cream
1/3 C sugar (or 1/2C if you don't like things quite as sweet)
1/2 C Dehydrated Eggs
1 t of fresh ground nutmeg (yes FRESH)
1/2 t salt
1/2 t cinnamon
1t vanilla extract
Combine all dry ingredients and mix well to break up any clumps of egg. Combine wet, and then dry ingredients in a blender and blend until thoroughly combined. Let it rest for 4-6 hours for the eggs to completely re-hydrate. Blend immediately before serving (makes it nice and frothy) and top with another sprinkle of nutmeg.
Optional: Add a good portion of spiced rum or bourbon prior to "frothing up".
I'm not exactly sure how well this would work in camp as I have yet to try making it with Nido and relatively warm water, but the results with milk and a blender are quite pleasant. After this batch I may try the "camp recipe" to see how it turns out. All of the ingredients would be camp stable assuming you sub vanilla beans for the extract, and subbing Nido for the milk and cream (probably just mix it a little stronger). This would probably be a great breakfast (albeit a bit sweet). High calorie and protein content.
Enjoy, and Merry Christmas Everyone!

I wonder how the Hurbal Life Drink mixer or the Tupperware shaker mixer would work. That's what I use for my Nido. (I spelled the HL name wrong on purpose as they somehow worked an ad in there.)Edited!
Used to use Honeyville Eggs... They started selling the Ova Easy eggs and I'll never look back. The nice thing is inside the can the eggs are in packets, so you can still store them pretty good. Just use up the open packet instead of the whole can.
I like the eggnogg idea

Not sure if this would be legal in the BDub but this would definately work. Tailgator
Pretty sure I wouldn't want to portage it. The ice for my Margarita would be tough too. Maybe a spring trip, get it out of the lake.
