I would like to find a fish finder that will "shoot through the hull" of my Wenonah boundary waters kevlar canoe. Anyone have the X67c ice machine or have my canoe and found a fish finder that will shoot through it?
Thanks

the "diamond" has foam inside...meaning trapped air. ya cant shoot thru that with a `ducer. fore or aft of that youll be fine...or a suction cup mounted one outside.

I use a suction cup mount. I have a Wenonah SpiritII kevlar ultralight. It stays on just fine. If you want to shoot through the hull, it is usually permanent. The transducer is epoxied in place. You will need to find a spot with no air bubbles. The suction cup is much less headache.

I would highly advise against epoxying the transducer to the canoe. Use either a good quality silicone caulk or my preference is a product called lexel. I believe it is an oil based caulk and definitely up for the rigors of transducer life. If your transducer ever fails or you switch brands, you won't swear quite as much and save yourself possibly damaging your canoe trying to remove it.

I have a Souris River and can shoot through the ribs, I assume you would be able to as well. As long as you don't pout the transducer right over foam (it will be obvious) then it should shoot through just fine.

I looked at a picture of the Wenonah BW and I see what you are saying. There appears to be foam ribs and a foam bottom. But if you sit in the back you could put the transducer under the seat towards the back and it should be away form the foam. Opposite in the front. I don't know if you can really do that, but from the pic it looks like you can.
I think if you look at the canoe it will be obvious where the foam is (raised or thicker bottom/different color-darker in the light) and if you have a spot to place the transducer. That will be your limiting factor more than the type of depth finder in my opinion.

sorry, I don't have the X67c ice machine that you are asking, it performs with 1,500W peak to peak power and 200 kHz transducer, plus a sensor for detecting water surface temperature. Despite being old-fashioned, just get rid of irritating Ice Cube trays and expensive bagged ice with the Small ice cube makers. The best portable ice makers will come in hand if you enjoy hosting summer parties or work in the outdoors.

This is a phenomenal post! I can't wait to have fresh made ice cubes on not only the first day of my next BW trip, but also the last!!!

How are you planing on powering this unit? Are you using solar power with a huge battety, a Honda 3000 generator, or a 5 mile long extension cord?
