Thanks for the report. It must have been a wonderful return for you with your girls along. Are you all going back this year?

Nice one! You guys really covered some ground despite the weather. It's great that you got to do that with your daughters before they get too busy with other "life stuff".

Thanks for posting and it would be cool to hear your daughters take on the trip as well.

That's a pretty epic route for your daughters' first trip to the Q. And I'm impressed you started a trip the day after running Grandma's. I'm always pretty sore for several days after a marathon. Cool that you found your own very funny and memory-provoking note on Delahey.

Great report. IMO, you didn't miss much by not finding the Quetico Lake pictographss. (The only really good one is WAY east of Eden Island.) Interesting about the Yeh portage. We were planning on going that way one year but wetness the day before changed our minds. When I got back I thought I saw online that there was a "false" portage marked like you described and another -- "correct" -- one. I have four daughters, but sadly none of them want to go to Quetico. Thanks for sharing! --Goose

Hi Boonie
Thanks so much to everyone for your kind words. I have just discovered this site and have been reading all the trip reports. They are all inspiring and inspired me to do my own, even though I am not adept at this sort of thing. The trip was in 2011 and Johnna was so stoked she recruited a college friend and 2 of her cousins to go again last summer(2012). After reading the notes she was determined we had to do the death march. So from July 21-31 I led 4 18-19 females up the falls chain to Kawnipi, over to Delahey then on to Conmee, down to Sarah, through PP and back out the Man Chain to Saganaga and Voyaguer Canoe outfitters. Anika couldn't go so we did a BWCA trip Sept 21-24 with one of her Grad school friends. I really can not describe how rewarding it is to bring young people into the wilderness and witness them becoming totally enthralled. And none of them care a wit about fishing! I have been trying to put a group together for this summer with some young men and their fathers but have not been able to to so.

Thanks for taking the time to share this memory with us. These trips are a heritage that is priceless. Very easy read. Did you ever get to fish Kawnipi in earnest??

What a great way to spend time with the girls! Looked like everyone enjoyed the trip, and even though the weather does not always cooperate, those are even memorable moments. Nice family, and great looking walleye's !!!

I still did not get to fish Kawnipi in earnest in 2012 either though I did go through it again. But this year I am going to go on a fishing focused trip to Kawnipi with my old buddy Scott. I am so looking forward to it I can hardly bear the wait.
