Going in Missing Link for the lake trout opener! Undecided where I go once I'm to Tusc. I have plenty of time to flesh things out before I go.

Where are you going after Banadad? In and back same way, loop, point-to-point? Enjoy your trip.

I've got my permit, I'm eager, but...I'm not ready yet. However, Sept is a long way off.

On my 2012 autumn solo I went in Cross Bay and through Long Island to Omega and out Poplar. You'll enjoy that area. You can pick up some info on portages, etc. from my trip report and pictures. Enjoy!

I went that way last May same week you are going, went in thru Skipper. Judging from the "usage" of the thunderboxes I honored I was the first tripper to use those campsites last year. I saw only two other canoes over 5 days from Skipper to Long Island Lake. Stayed 2 days on Rush, 2 on Banadad. A great area to be sure. Weather was good, water was 58F, fish were biting. Bugs were minimal. Shoot, now I want to go back!

Yes. I'm ready. I have my permit, campsite reservation at Fall Lake for the night before, and I have a canak rented. July 10th cannot come soon enough. I spent yesterday sorting through my bwca gear and regular car camping gear. I also bought new portage shoes for my solo trip.
Now I just need to plan my second bwca trip in September with my brother. Have not decided on where to go yet.

Have great trips everyone!

bwcasolo... I love the areas of your trip that I've been to. My wife and I entered Skipper and camped on Banadad on an Aug. trip and only saw 1 other group each of the 4 days........ Once in Aug. we entered Lizz and camped on Gaskin w/ daytripping to many of the nearby lakes. Busier area near the Lizz entry but Omega, Henson, Pillsbury, and Allen had very few people around.......Last year I entered Lizz w/ just my daughter and camped on Caribou. I love all of the small skinny lakes in the area w/ Omega and Horseshoe my favorites. I'd love to get to Vista sometime.

My 1st Solo hopefully in June. Not sure exactly when or exactly where I'm going. I have some ideas on where I want to go but I won't know the when until a few weeks ahead of time so it will depend on what's available.

We did this loop last summer during the busy season and from Skipper to Long Island the only people we saw were two FS workers! Long Island on was a different story. Here is the Trip report if you are interested. You will love the solitude!

kendra, that was a great report, i read it when you first posted it. when i decide to go into an area for the first time, i try to refrain from reading too much about it, or looking at too many photo's of the area. i really enjoy the element of surprise and awe.
