Seems like a long time, maybe years, since I could just go out and ski without having to worry about "Did it melt off?" With my shoulder issues and the weather, it's been a couple of years since I've skied more than three times. This past week alone I skied three times. Granted, they were all on the city lakes because I'm worried about blowing out a butt muscle for the third time and I don't think the physical therapy has helped it enough, but it was still nice to get out and ski.

That's what I thought too. :( I skied Washburn solitude area by Outing today. It was beautiful when we started at 10am but after skiing for about an hour it started to rain. This really caused the trail to become slippery. I lost control, hit the deep snow and tore up my left knee. Buddy called 911 and the local rescue team got me out via snowmobile after about an hour of waiting for them to arrive. After being in the ER in Crosby, MN from 1-6pm I am finally at home and in my recliner with torn acl's, mcl's, meniscus and other damage. Will find out tomorrow when (not if) I need surgery. Thus ends my ski season for 2012/2013. My left knee is literally the size of my thigh.

Tough to hear, gutmon.
On Saturday at Spidahl's, Cindy warned us of a change that David had made to the ending of one of our favorite loops, mentioning a 'compression hill.' Even so, the deep dip and sudden uphill caught me a bit by surprise and I created quite a sizable head-first crater on the side of the trail. At first, I thought my shoulder was toast. Fortunately, 24 inches of snow was enough of a protective cushion.
Here's to a swift recovery.

Sorry to hear about your injury Gutmon. The swelling looks bad. I hope the pain is not as bad as it looks.
I was just looking at photos of Lindsey Vonn's leg after surgery on the internet. I hope you heal up fast.
Whats next? Will they wait for the swelling to go down to see if surgery is needed.
Take care.

That is crummy. Doing something you love and getting hurt and taken out of the event for the season. And for the rest of us, no more great pics of your "backyard". Hope the surgery goes well and you heal fast and completely. "Enjoy" therapy...it is for the best.

gutmon- How awful! Do you need surgery? I tore my mcl a couple of years ago on one of those water trampolines. Thankfully didn't need surgery. Took a year before I could run again, although I was able to do light biking after 4 months. I pray your leg heals well so that you can do the outdoor life.
