"The Journals Of Richard L. Proenneke 1974 - 1980"

I started reading this lengthy 467 page volume and am really getting caught up in it. You might know about Dick from the movie and book called "One Man's Wilderness". In 1968 at the age of 51 he built a log cabin on remote Twin Lakes in Alaska. He lived there alone for the next 30 years.

Now you might think he was a hermit but this was not the case. He worked for the Park Service and was paid to shoot movie film by them. These journals are really fascinating and tell the story in great detail of what it was like to live there. I'm only on page 107 but wanted to pass this on in case anyone else was interested.

It's considerably cheaper now than when I paid $25 for it 2 years ago.
If you don't have the movie already you get a deal if you order both. I highly recommend the movie as well.

Edit: I just found this new video on Youtube. It's really great.

Much thanks for the heads up! The video shows what a cool guy he was. Looking forward to reading the book.
