Be warned, the waves often come from the south west and when they are coming into that bay it can be tricky to leave shore, if it’s coming more from the west you are good, the point does a great job of protecting that bay, more from the South… well hold on tight, LOTS of open water in front of that bay, have seen some truly epic waves on that end of the lake.

But it is a nice spot, found a lot of trash there early last year. I'm sure it's popular.

[EDIT} AGNES Lake in Q has a nice beach site...west side near south end...not sure if that is the one you refer to above, but it is nice.
Brain fart! I had the wrong name. It sucks gettin' old.

I was just saying beside Alcie because I have been there and stayed at one of the nicest campsites on the lake... I really like sandy beach sites to swim and take a quick easy bath. Versus many other sites where its large underwater boulders with a 20ft drop.

Frost Lake has a couple campsites with nice sandy beaches, too.

There is a nice one on Little Vermilion also.

Frost & Insula come to mind... I personally don't like camping on them, sand gets in everything... would much rather have it deep, with rock to jump off.

campsite 1355 on Insula has an awesome beach, and we enjoyed the site though I was there before the Pagami Creek Fire so I'm not sure how the burn affected the site. It was a bit windy when we hit the beach so we took one of our towels and flew it like a flag from a long stick we found and planted it in the sand posing for the camera in a reenactment of the Iwo Jima photo. : )

That site is in the Southwest part of the lake, right? Someone else posted about the beach there, too, in the map section. I'm thinking the fire hit that spot but don't personally know how bad.
Another site on Insula #1334 also has a huge beach. That site is farther north and did not get burned. This site also has a spot for your tent up off the sand but it still gets everywhere.
Also found beaches on Thomas Lake.

We haven't been to Alice yet, but always thought it would interesting.

There's a nice one on Malberg. I believe it's the easternmost site on the lake.

Yes, Hawbakers, campsite 1355 is on the southwest part of the lake--one of the southernmost sites on Insula.

Sand can get into a lot of your stuff. We spent a rainy day here and when the sand is wet it will stick to most everything you have along.

I think it was Amber Lake I was directed to that had a great "beach" campsite. I had lunch there and although it was a pretty cool site I chose to move on to Fishdance. One of the reasons I moved on was the thought of Bernice dragging in all that sand into the tent. If I recall, you could walk out a long ways and still not be too deep.

Yes, Amber has a great site - one of my all-time favorites. Officially, there are two sites on the lake, but the beach site is the only good one. We were there for a week and didn't see anyone.

I was through Insula last may and campsite 1355 was hit badly by the fire. The forest service map from August 2012 shows that campsite as open, but there aren't going to be many trees around it.

Sites 1323, 1332, and 1334 in the north end of Insula all have some sort of beach.

There is a very nice beach on Site 1334 on Insula. I stayed there for a night in 2009. What is interesting about this site is that the slope into the water is VERY gradual and the bottom is sandy. I remember walking out into the water at least 50 yards and I was just over my knees. This would be a great site for a young family where you could let the little ones play in the water without worrying that they would fall into a deep hole.

But.. that's the last time I will stay on a beach site. As was mentioned, sand gets everywhere.

a few years back, we canoe out from the Maligne River into Lac La Croix and we looking for campsites near Coleman Island. The designated campsites were the most pitiful I've ever encountered, and would never accommodate our group. We then saw, like a beam a light with a rainbow highlighting a beach across the bay. A beautiful sand beach with huge old growth white pine that is marked as a campsite on the USGS map, but not an official forest service campsite. I can't understand why they would protect us and exclude us from the beauty of this beach and campsite.

Insula.

I think Insula is the most versatile lake in the BW. It's good at everything from fishing to campsites and beaches to cliff jumping.

I think there are 43 campsites there and many are on islands. Lots of islands!

If I remember correctly, Kawishiwi lake has a site with a nice sand beach. Here are a few picks. I think this is on the East side of the lake. but its been almost 7 years since I was there.

Kawishiwi. Yes, you are correct. I forgot about that one. Nice beach and sandy bottom stays shallow and for quite a ways out. Photos are from September 2011.

Sweet Tom... I will have to make it to Insula one day. Those three things fishing, beaches, and cliff jumping are something that make trips simply awesome...
