After a 40 some year break since my last solo I did a 3 night solo in the BW last year and loved it. I now have a one week solo planned for the first week in September. I have been considering my entry point and route, likely entering at Beaverhouse. Still trying to figure out a good loop.
Last night I talked with a very close friend in Colorado. He has a cabin on Lake Vermilion near Tower, just down the lake from where I grew up. In passing he mentions he is flying into the Twin Cities on the last Friday in August, the night I figured to drive up to start my trip. In fact I was planning on staying overnight at his cabin since he has given me a key to it and I use it several times a year before trips. He has a car at the cabin but no way to get there other than a rental.
So I get to pick him up at the airport in the early evening, drive up to the lake and shoot the breeze. Have a few bumps at the cabin. A fun time all in all.
BUT, then he volunteered to drop my vehicle on the Echo Trail somewhere and drive me to Beaverhouse to drop me off. No more loop! I get to spend a week winding my way through the Quetico and making my way back to the vehicle on the Echo Trail or Moose Lake. Awesome!

Great arrangement! That's something I've looked into doing as well instead of a loop trip. But flying into Beaverhouse Lake, or getting a shuttle from an Ely Outfitter to the Beaverhouse landing is costly.
Nice to have a friend that can make this happen for you.
