Hello all. I am new to this photography group and really to photography. I used to have a 35mm camera back in the film days and am
looking to get back into it. I ahve been looking at the CAnon SL1 and like the light weight to feature ratio. Does anybody here have experience with this unit? My "focus" is general family events and BW trips. I plan to get 18-55 and zoom lenses.

welcome! I use a canon sx40, not familiar with your camera but i'm sure there is someone in this forum who can offer advice.
haven't mastered photos of people or flowers, either, except for taking staff photos for my work place. nature, animals, dead stuff, birdies.. that's more my thing.
