Great trip report. Sounds like you all had a great time.
I, too, took my 3 sons and daughter-in-law on their first, my second, trip into the Boundary Waters. I was a little worried that a) they wouldn't want to go/have better things to do, and b) they'd have a less than stellar time with their old mom, but by day 2 they were all saying "Next year let's..." or "Next year we should..." We all gained more experience and wisdom with each portage, campsite set-up, and day's paddling. One good lesson...you can never have too many carabiners.
BTW my kids are 31, 27, 27 and 24. I think you'll have lots more years to enjoy the wilderness with them.
Take care,
Lil M

thanks for posting your report. Why the toothpicks in the fried fish fillets?

These were "fish-fingers" trout, wrapped in won-ton shells. The tooth picks held them closed while frying them. YUM!

Nice report and I enjoyed the pics too. Also, solo's are real fun too! I took my son (only child) during his last two years of highschool on weeklong trips to the BW and am so glad I did. Time flies as I'm sure you are aware. He's in the Army now but has expressed a desire to go to Quetico some day. Hopefully you're sons will get the bug and you guys can go on lots more trips.
