I was wondering if anyone has dried anything like a serving of lasagna or a dish of spaghetti... Or a bowl of chili for that matter.

quote TomP: "I have dehydrated left over spaghetti, baked beans and chili. But not lasagna. I think the cheese in lasagna would not dehydrate well due to the fat content."
My thread shows some pictures of a big pot of chili getting done up. Dehydrating Basics
I mainly dehydrate whole meals- chili, spaghetti, jumbalaya, beef stew. Lot of what I make is in the main meals area of the cook book. Cheese does just fine when it part of a meal like lasagna or what I often bring- baked ziti.

I've done spaghetti lots of times but I just do the noodles and the sauce together and then the meat separately. Also have done chili the same way. I would think the lasagna would be to thick to dehydrate well and it would not turn out well hydrating it.

I have done a bunch of spagetti and chili with the meat included and had no issues. Its really nice to only have to rehydrate one package to have a full meal.
I also dehyrated "Mexican" Alfredo this spring. Jarred Alfredo sauce with green chiles already added, frozen small cut veggie mix (corn, small cubed carrots, onion, and peppers), some fine ground chipotle salsa, fine ground mex cheese blend and canned chicken all cooked together.
I sampled one vaccum sealed pouch after a month in the freezer. It was fine no odd textures or tastes though it seemed like the rehydrating noodles did absorb most of the cheese sauce. Maybe ill add some "Fresh" block cheese the next time i do it.

Leftover casseroles get dehydrated for about a month before I take a trip. I am a fanatic about any meats though. If hamburger, I brown, drain and rinse it. I prefer ham or chicken. I use a lot of TVP now, but never tell anyone it's not meat.
