Any ideas on where I can obtain honey packets in the minneapolis/west burbs area, need 8-10. Can't find them in the stores and haven't come across any restaurants/bistro that has any either.

thanks

KFC seems like the obvious place to go - though it isn't truly honey so it may not fit the bill.

Farmers markets have honey sticks that would work. Definitely at the main minneapolis farmers market.

Wonder into a Hampton Inn at breakfast time. All three I stayed at this week had them. :)

How about making your own? I haven't tried this with honey but I have done it with ointments from tubes and it works well...

Straw packets

-Find large diameter straws
-Cut straw to length
-Heat seal one end per instructions in above link
-Fill straw with honey (honey bear or other squeeze bottle with small nozzle cap?)
-Heat seal second end

Popeyes chicken has the same honey blend packets as KFC. It is part corn syrup. I think some coffee houses like Starbucks/dunkin donuts have the packets for tea etc. Smuckers has honey in little tubs like they serve maple syrup in, sometimes they have them at diners.

Most grocery stores carry pretty small honey "bears," likely only 2 oz or so, it may be more than you need, but at least it's real honey.

The best option to go with try out some online stores where you'll get some instant delivery or else the KFC is good you can even go with it.

Perhaps I am a purist, but the KFC product is now High Fructose Corn Syrup with honey flavoring added. That just doesn't do it for me. I am trying to avoid the HFCS in everything that I can, and somehow fake honey just seems wrong!

But then, I am the same way about maple syrup. Life is too short to use substitutes for some things. Just my two cents.

I agree about syrup (but significant when I buy for 50-60 Scouts). I checked the honey at Hampton's a few weeks ago - pure honey it said. (Not so their "breakfast" syrup.)

Panera have honey packets? I usually stock up there for a trip for many items.

We still use them... had current ones since the late 1980s. Though one finally cracked right before our last trip. We use them for PB & J and honey. Good reminder that I need to pick up a replacement before our next trip.

I used to use the tubes, but hated the mess of filling them and sometimes they would leak, especially with jelly. There are only two of us, so now I just get our PB and jelly in packets from Packit Gourmet. Would do the same if I wanted honey. Buy ketchup packets there, too. If we have leftover they keep for the next year. Just a small amount of trash to pack out and super convenient. In addition to peanut butter they have almond butter, which I really like better, and they have several flavors of jam, too.

I cannot begin to imagine the mess if one of these tubes full of honey were to crack or leak at the bottom in a pack! ICK!

We do pack them inside bags. Usually with the meal they are "assigned" to. So that meal would get icky but not the rest of the pack. as things get consolidated and those individual bags get used for garbage, we have left them just loose in the food pack at times. so far we haven't had an issue. fingers crossed!

Probably not worth shipping but let me know if you're up in the Twin Cities anytime... or heading to Canoecopia in the springtime. Happy to take them off your hands if you're ready to be rid of them.

I found Chick-fil-A to be the King of condiment packets, including real honey.

I take the miniture nail gene with a flip top squeeze top and fill it with honey.
I Always take 2 a 4 oz of honey and use in oatmeal and on pancakes and on muffins or fry bread. Much better then little packets.

You could also re-use MIO bottles to put honey in.

Yes. We love them for honey, butter, and cooking oil.

just do a google search for "honey straws". Lots of different options available. I tried a few at the renaissance Fest last fall, they were very good!

REI Sells condiment pouches that work great for that kind of stuff.

My husband came home from our local Meijer store yesterday with this little packet of honey that looks handy. It is a squeeze packet, appears very strong. Says it contains "about 4" servings of honey, 100 grams, 3.53 oz. Is a Greek product, has English label affixed over the Greek lettering on the packet, and is distributed by MJM Distributers, NY.

We haven't tried it yet, but it does look like the perfect size for canoe-tripping.
