it's the first of October and #4 was a lot to scroll thru so let the photos begin!

after some 20 years of twice a year trips into the Q when i was working i decide to have a look at my old haunts in the BW when i retired.

A raccoon with symptoms of canine distemper. I googled "crusty eyes raccoon" and it was pretty obvious match. He was very lethargic and could hardly stand up.

The one on the left was actually broke so I splinted it. I thought I'd better reinforce the other one before it broke. Wind blew like this from 4 in the morning till 2 the next morning. I finely moved the tent back into the trees out of the worst of the wind.

it's a flag that flies outside my front door. I used some of the special effects in my picasa photo program and made it look more real.
was waiting to see how long until someone realized it wasn't a real moose!

on a side note, if you've been in trail center in the back dining room there is a huge moose framed and hung on the wall. that is actually a shower curtain. really cool

unnamed falls in the Q.rather than take the Have Smoke Portage we went up the other branch of the river and found this falls,note i said "up".
it was a hard push against the current!

This is our fall. However its just around the house. Most of the trees, oaks, the leaves just turn brown and fall off. The trees in the photo are liquid amber.

hobbydog, your picture sure brought back allot of memories. For 35 years we have had only wood heat in he house. Sometimes the whole family would go wood cutting. We would take a picnic build a campfire and cook pitch fork hotdogs for lunch. Good memories! Funny how a picture can do that. Thanks

Well....it is close to the Canada border but wrong corner of the state. :-) It is the Roseau River in NW MN, about 1 mile before it crosses into Canada. I am headed up there this weekend for a couple weeks of trapping and deer hunting. I will be spending lots of time paddling it in the coming days.
