Pure advertisement for a book written about what looked like a 5 day trip.

My wife inadvertently bought me this book for my birthday. In perusing it, I have found a couple of blatant errors.

The first one I found was on page 24 under the heading Bathing and Swimming: "The swimming suit allows you to take a cooling dip after a long day of paddling and, WITH A BAR OF BIODEGRADABLE SOAP AND SHAMPOO, ALLOWS YOU TO TAKE A CLEANSING BATH." No sir, soap and shampoo, biodegradable or not, should not be used in the lake. Most of us get our drinking water out of that same lake and that soap does not magically disappear in the water.

The second error, almost as egregious, is on page 33 under the heading Latrines: "Also, remember: never dispose of uneaten food in a latrine. IT SHOULD BE BURNED IN YOUR FIRE OR BURIED WELL AWAY FROM YOUR CAMP."
What part of "pack it in, pack it out" don't you understand?

Seriously, did they not listen to the rangers when picking up their permit? Did they not have any review by experienced canoe campers or was it just copy editors who have never camped?

If it wasn't for this misinformation, it might be a resource for first timers. All the trips listed are easy, stay close to the EP type trips. For most people on this board, I would recommend NOT buying this book.
