Just sent a note to wabakimi.org and spent some more time on the site. Discovered the routes mapped by year and now the picture is coming into focus.
Couple observations: 1) Phil Cotton will become a legend if he isn't already. 2). The volume of work done there is staggering and visionary.
I was discouraged because I could not make sense of the poor online maps I was finding but the maps on the site really helped.
Game on. Thank you gentlemen.

Thwarted, On behalf of all the participants, both men and women; you are welcome! We have been given a great opportunity to contribute to the preservation and mapping of the historic canoe routes in the Wabakimi area by "Uncle" Phil's vision and dedication, plus Barry S.'s map making! Check out the new maps on the updated website and Vol. 4 is almost printed. This year's schedule is being developed and there are openings available. Please consider participating this summer!

I second the invite to participate in Wabakimi Project trips. Through my involvement in the Project I am now part of two other groups that trip together in the B, the Q and in other places in Canada. I feel so lucky to have made all of these canoe tripping friends.

The fly in the Wabakimi project ointment is the cost which is twice my budget for the entire trip this year. I will do the entire eight day trip for $500.00 since I own my boat and split the other costs with my partner. I have it on my list but will have to save for a few years.
Right now the plan is to enter at L. Caribou and exit at Maggotte Lake via Boiling Sands. I have the Vol 3 maps though I am wondering if I should get a set of topos that would show a broader area.
Uncle Phil is a hoot. There were times when I sent him e-mails at 10pM and got a response at midnight. Very, very helpful. I would love to get a chance to help him.

...there's a discount if you (can) volunteer to drive up from Thunder to Armstrong with your crew & gear ....just a little "nudge" to tip the balance....in the right direction :)

Thwarted - Did you make the trip??
I entered at Little Caribou in 2011 and went around thru Smoothrock and out at the tracks at the south end of Onamakawash (Schult'z Trail).
I would love to see a trip report!
