A great fall birding location near us is the Crex Meadows Wildlife Area, in Grantsburg, WI. While camping there last weekend we saw numerous large flocks of Sandhill Cranes that layover in this area on their way south.

In addition we observed many other species of birds including Harris's and White-throated Sparrows, Lapland Longspurs, Golden Plovers, Sharp-tailed Grouse, Merlins, Eagles, Peregrine Falcons, and numerous types of ducks.

A good chance to add a bird to a life list.
