Just scanned a Fisher map of the Seagull area and produced these, base map and 100k topo, disabled previous maps and enabled custom map, opening an overlay in Google Earth
Interesting possibilities! Need to play with maps/scans/and scale but is was an easy process!

I've created a custom map for my Garmin, but when I did it last year, I thought there were pretty severe restrictions on file size. It worked for the small area I was interested in (I had a detailed topo from surveyors of my property and nearby lands), but it seemed like it would not work for a large area like that covered by Fisher maps. Interested in hearing more about how you did it.
I do not know if the newer unit is the difference, but I have 15mb in 8 custom maps now installed and all work. Only problem I have found is not to overlap maps because they are either all enabled or disabled (under the map screen/menu/setup map).
