anyone biking to work this winter, share your commute, length, anything regarding winter riding.
for me this winter has been the coldest. i have upped my gear to good breathable layers, new boots, and face gear.
i tried goggles, and glasses, but they just fogged up.
i had even double lens goggles, but my commute of 5 miles one way, up over a steep climb, just generated too much heat.
i have missed 2 days due to ice.
i do not use studs, but a good pair of mtb tires for snow.
i have a cygo light on the front. this is a great light for around 100$.
it holds a charge for about a week.
riding now is a bonus as when spring comes and the lightweight bikes come out, you are in shape and ready to fly.
i bought a used gt mountain bike a few years back for winter riding.
ride on.

While I do not commute, I do like to ride year round. Right now it is difficult because of the cold, ice, and weather we are having here in Arkansas. Other than riding the trainer I have done several 29er rides of 12-20 miles and road bike up 38 miles. I am waiting for warmer weather to get some hours and miles on the road bike!

gravity just upgraded m gt mtb to a fat tire bike yesterday. for winter commute, it is a great deal on a decent bike with good hardware. I just could not afford twice the cash on a local bike. I have 2 other commuters I ride in warm weather. stoked.

Just had another knee replacement done, but had some fun riding my KHS Zaca 29er back earlier in the fall! Looking forward to when I can get out and on it or the road bike either one when I am healed up good! Keep riding and enjoying the weather!

hey bruce, wife and I were up at copper harbor mich, this past aug. and rented 29ers from the local shop and rode out 7 miles to the lake and back. 3/4 of the way we were on unimproved forest roads. it was awesome. we got 2 fatbikes from bikes direct a couple weeks ago. half off list, good quality hardware for what we do. having a blast with them. hope your knee healing goes' well.
