No PMAthis year but I do plan to bushwhack to a lake with no portage
s. The Voyageur Map lists the fish there...so someone has been there before. Anyone else bushwhack to places...just because they are there even if they aren't a PMA?

Yes, I do it just for the adventure. I also like to be able to see places that I imagine few others have.

I do this on most trips I plan to base camp. Gives me something to do besides fishing. I use compass and map with a GPS as a backup.

Did Rocky Lake near Alder and Canoe on the east end of the Bdub. Interestingly, Rocky Lake has no rocks...at least not where I was.

i paddled spring creek from the angleworm portage to bearskin creek. the water was high but it still took about four more hours than i figured, i ended up camping in the marsh on beaver trail. this was a solo trip and very late in the year. easily the most remote i have ever felt in the bwca.
