I started this about 6 weeks ago. and have worked on it sporadically. It is very large 24 x 36 and will depict a white wolf.
Just thought I would share the progress....I will post more as it develops. The photo is a fair representation of the actual piece at best.

a couple slight changes to the area under the log. I added some twigs, and leaves, and did some shading under the log.
I also am beginning to build the area around her face....right now she looks like a scary clown.

tonight/this morning

03/15/2014 10:29AM
this morning I got an early start and worked on the cedar branches and snow on them...it really adds depth to the entire painting.

Back from a couple days off due to a short illness, I worked into the wee hours...I do my best work then...
I added a small, and some highlight to the snow, and also a partially fallen pine, and some other small trees to the far rear of the scene...there is more still to do before I start working on the wolf...this is to the point where there will be both subtle and big changes to the painting...but hopefully this piece will be done in a week or so ..then I can move on to my next project.

highlights in the snow, and trees and branches in the far background

She is really starting to take on shape.
Much to do yet....getting interesting
I will be working on the rear half of her body today and tomorrow..

I am nearing the completion of this piece...it has been 2 1/2 months since from pencil sketch to the stage it's at now.
The next step is shading, highlights and adding a few details to the ground/snow...it's been fun
